Utopia Cafe in Kingaroy

While Kingaroy is a couple of hundred kilometres from the fabulous coffee-centric city that Brisbane has become, the Utopia Cafe’s reputation extends fondly into the minds of Brisbane folk who’ve visited this most cosmopolitan country town in the South Burnett region.

It’s renowned as peanut-country, its most famous identity Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen, though Matthew Hayden likely much more globally-loved, but cafe lovers locally and who’ve visited know Kingaroy takes its coffee culture seriously – and standing proudly among this dedication is the fabulous Utopia Cafe.

Their best seller ‘El Salvador SSO’ is a bourbon varietal coffee, grown in the highlands of the Santa Ana Volcano by the Alvarez family. It is handpicked by the farmers and delivered to the mill for sorting and maturing, taken through a hands on processes of pulping and washing before being sun-dried on aged clay patios. This blend was cupped by their barista trainers who then collaborated with roasters to keep its balanced clean profile when served as an espresso or long black. They may also be enjoyed with milk to cater for other tastes.

Utopia also have a moderate selection of cakes available for brunch and afternoon tea complemented by carefully crafted smoothies, iced creations and milkshakes or thickshakes as well as Bondi Chai and their premium blends of barista coffee. They also offer single origin, multi-origin and fair trade organic blends to suit different palettes.

At Utopia they believe that catering should be simple, affordable and most importantly, there should always be enough.
